Ryan Stevens is a playwright/ theatre artist currently based in New York. Stevens received their BA in English and MA in Dramaturgy from USC and their MFA in Playwriting from UCLA.
Ryan's plays mix wild theatricality, bold experiments in genre, and heartfelt humanist characters to create shows that are as spectacular and experimental as they are sincere in their emotions. Ryan's major inspirations are Caryl Churchill, Paula Vogel, Suzan-Lori Parks, Bertolt Brecht, and Anne Washburn.
Stevens has worked with Great Plains Theatre Conference, Silver Spring Stage, MeetCute LA, Inkwell Theatre, St. Croix Falls Festival Theatre, New American Theatre, Whiskey Radio Hour, Hollywood Fringe Festival, Kitchen Sink Theatre Company, Astoria New Play Festival, The Plagiarists Chicago, T. Schreiber Studio, Impostors Theatre Company, Queen City Theatre, and Theatre Above The Law. Stevens’ script Player King is published through Stagescripts, Ltd., Busted Open through Muddy Ford Press, and BRICKGIRL through 1319 Press.
